The
following is an extract from the TKGRC opening day speech, 11th
March 2005, Srila Tamal Krishna Goswami Gurudeva Disappearance day,
from his brother Professor Carl Herzig:
"This
is, of course, both a bitter and a sweet occasion. Every day we
mourn again for the loss of direct association with our dear Tamal
Krishna, our beloved Srila Gurudeva. And yet never has presence
been more obviously manifest then in the opening of this centre.
In
his last years with us, Srila Gurudeva focused with utmost intensity
on Krishna conscious research projects, such as his own dissertation,
for which these projects had the same purpose, to glorify his spiritual
master.
So
it is most appropriate that we glorify his Holiness Tamal Krishna
Goswami Maharaja in a manner that follows his lead-practical and
productive-with actual work such as the oral history and Vaisnava
schoolbook projects.
The
journey of self-discovery, the path back to Godhead, can seen long
and winding. But now we have a home on the way back home. Full of
old memories and alive with new projects, the TKGRC reminds us that
Srila Gurudeva's work is still going on, in Vrindavan, in Oxford,
in the States-wherever devotees are engaging their talents, skills,
and energies to carry on Srila Prabhupada's Krishna consciousness
movement."
Thank you very much.
Yours humble servent,
Bhakta Carl
